Song of the Sea RECEIVES Oscar Nomination / by Niall Brady

The feature animation Song of the Sea, directed by Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells) and produced by the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon has just been nominated in the Best Animated Feature for this years Academy Awards. The film tells the story of the last Seal Child’s journey home. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and was released in the U.S in December 2014. The film has received many glowing reviews and will be released in Ireland this coming March.

Ardmore Sound had the pleasure of recording the vocal talents of many of the actors for the film including Brendan Gleeson, Pat Shortt, Lisa Hannigan, Fionnula Flannagan and David Rawle. Cartoon Saloon have kept an extensive production blog for the film and posted some lovely pictures from the recording sessions with us here on The Main Stage.
