‘THE SECRET SCRIPTURE’ AND ‘MAUDIE’ TO SCREEN AT TIFF / by Keith Jordan

Jim Sherdan’s The Secret Scripture and Aisling Walsh’s Maudie will screen at this years Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Directed by Jim Sheridan, The Secret Scripture will make its world premiere at the festival. Starring Rooney Mara (Carol), Vanessa Redgrave (Mission Impossible), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Aidan Turner (The Hobbit), the film follows the discovery of a hidden memoir belonging to an elderly woman confined to a mental hospital. A memoir which reveals the history of her passionate yet tortured life, and of the religious and political upheavals in Ireland during the 1920s and ’30s…

Produced by Ferndale Films, the adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s award-winning 2008 novel was filmed on location in Dublin and Kilkenny.

Ardmore Sound provided the Foley and Final mix for the film.

Academy Award nominees Sally Hawkins (Happy-Go-LuckyBlue Jasmine) and Ethan Hawke star in this true story of Maud Lewis, who overcame the physical challenge of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to become one of Canada’s premier folk artists.
