"Galway City of Film, in association with Screen Training Ireland, Screenscene/Ardmore Sound, Gréasán na Meán, Big Bear Sound & Galmac, is delighted to welcome editor and sound designer, Walter Murch to Galway, on Saturday May 23rd. Walter, who has won Oscars for both Editing and Sound Design, will take part in an in-depth interview about his work, as well as giving 2 presentations on his creative approach to post-production. Walter has edited films such as Apocalypse Now, Cold Mountain, The Conversation, The Talented Mr Ripley and most recently, Tomorrowland (George Clooney). He will be interviewed by Declan McGrath, author of Screencraft: Editing and Post-Production.
There will also be a creative panel discussion on the day, curated by Dublin Editors. This panel will explore where editing Documentary and Drama meet and diverge and how one can inform the other. Panelists for this are Frank Berry, Emer Reynolds, Steve Fanagan, Joe McElwaine, Stephen O Connell and Emer Reynolds.
This event is part of our ‘Talking’ series, which has attracted guests such as Vince Gilligan, Jimmy McGovern and Beau Willimon. It will take place on GMIT‘s main campus on the Dublin Road.
