'Song of the Sea' opens in Irish cinemas this weekend / by Keith Jordan

Oscar nominated feature animation Song of the Sea opens in Irish cinemas on the 10th of July.

Directed by Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells) and produced by the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, the film tells the story of the last Seal Child’s journey home...

The film has been inundated with praise from critic and public alike since its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and is now poised to delight Irish audiences (both young and old) when it goes on nationwide release this weekend.

Ardmore Sound had the pleasure of recording the vocal talents of many of the actors for the film including Brendan Gleeson, Pat Shortt, Lisa Hannigan, Fionnula Flannagan and David Rawle. The sessions were engineered and recorded by Garret Farrell.

Cartoon Saloon have kept an extensive production blog for the film and posted some lovely pictures from the recording sessions with us here on The Main Stage. Be sure to check them out!
